Quilts of Love

Quilts of Love

Purpose of the Guild as written in our by-laws

The purpose of the guild is to promote interest and knowledge in the art of quilt making, promote appreciation of the art form, educate people in all aspects of quilting, and engage in community projects through quilt making.

Once a year our guild organizes a community project we call Quilts of Love. A committee of guild members is formed and together they choose the project we will be working on and the organization to which our quilts will be donated. In the past we have donated quilts to pediatric departments, unwed mothers, mentally challenged and Quilts of Valor. In 2007 our quilts went to Project Wrap-A-Smile. During our 2008/09 guild year the committee decided we will give each and every child who lives at the Children’s Home of Easton a quilt of his or her very own for Christmas.

Now please do not worry if you are a new quilter and do not feel like you can participate. You can! Skill level is not an issue; we hope that everyone, both new and old, will participate in the “Quilts of Love” effort.

If you have a charity that is close to your heart and you would like to see our quilts donated to your charity, please let someone on the committee know. Your organization will certainly be considered in the future.

For our new members, if you have any questions regarding “Quilts for Love” or any other event our guild holds, please feel free to contact the guild's new member liaison. She will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have.

As your president I want all of our members to be comfortable with the committees and events the guild offers during our guild year. If you need anything throughout the year, please contact me.

We hope this helps you understand how and why Quilts of Love work.
